A Winter Wardrobe

This years winter has been strange. I have been on many long walks this month, wrapped up in my woollens. Its so comforting to wear clothes that bring so much joy, whether that be because they are second hand finds, from ethical companies, or made from beautiful fabrics, it makes such a difference to how I feel. Pictured above are a couple of my winter favourites including a vintage silk shirt from Glasgow, my Prana beanie, my Babaa no 16, and my Demylee merino knit.

The pieces I have collected recently I have been really happy with, they all pertain to my ideals of secondhand, ethically made, well made and natural materials. I've found now that I've stopped shopping fast fashion almost entirely, I have loved every single piece that I've brought in. Each piece feels like a real treasure, and also something that I can see myself owning for years to come.

Some new things in my wardrobe recently have been

Equipment Silk Shirt
Another Depop find, an absolute steal for $45. Its a beautiful washed black shirt - that I have already managed to spill toothpaste down the front of - in a classic silhouette that I can see myself wearing for years to come.

2 x Cashmere Jumpers
This purchase was definitely not considered, it was spontaneity rearing its ugly head at 11 o'clock at night. I bought two re-cashmere jumpers, one in navy and one in cream. They are from the dreaded Everlane who I vowed I would never purchase from, but then the overwhelming wave of scarcity complex overcame me and I snapped them up in the final sale for 50% off. They are good. I like them. I didn't need them though, however I can see them becoming staples in my wardrobe as they are solid basics.

Vintage Levi's
This purchase has been a long time coming. Like really long time. 3 months too long. They are vintage Levis 912s, in a classic blue wash the same style as my washed black pair. Unfortunately USPS was not a reliable courier from the US and they were stuck in Chicago for 2 and half months. The jeans, straight from the USA, are orange tab Levi's meaning they are true vintage from the 70s. They are perfectly worn it, and fit me like a glove, so this was all round a solid purchase.

Navy Cashmere
This was another spontaneous purchase I made at a 'Designer Op Shop'. It's a deep almost black navy cashmere merino v neck jumper that is incredibly soft and warm. I didn't need it, but I'm glad I have it. Its a timeless piece that pairs really well with turtlenecks or with nothing on underneath for an interesting silhouette.

Cave Collect Wool Trousers
This purchase was a long time in the making. I have wanted these trousers for about two years ever since I saw them on Pinterest - if you have Pinterest you have probably seen them on there too - they are a beautifully crafted pair of wool tailored trousers from a Melbourne brand called Caves Collect. They are expensive, and I was always tossing up whether to drop the money on them because I knew I would love them and have them for years to come but $300 is a pretty penny. So when I found them in my size on ebay for $19 on auction my heart skipped a beat. I sent the seller an offer and she accepted straight away. They are really wonderful pants honestly, they fit me perfectly and the material is warm and soft but sleek.
